Background

Origin

FineType defines the full month name as its own type, datetime.component.month_name, and describes it as locale-specific, giving January, janvier and Januar as examples.[1]

Use

Unicode's LDML date standard distinguishes a format form of the month name, used within a complete date format, from a stand-alone form, used when the month is displayed by itself.[2] Unicode's LDML date standard says the stand-alone form of a month name is typically the nominative.[2] Unicode's LDML date standard notes that, depending on the language, patterns that combine month with day of month may require the month to be in genitive form.[2]

Detection notes

v1 name: date.month. Enum shown is EN only — each locale has its own enum.
